Iced Green Tea
Happy National Iced Tea Day! Celebrate with this super easy iced green tea.
Making your own iced green tea requires very little time. To keep from destroying the delicate flavor of the tea, use room temperature water for “brewing”. I enjoy my iced green tea unsweetened. If you like your tea sweetened, try a spoonful or two of Basil Lime Honey.
- 64 fl oz (1 liter) room temperature water
- 8 green tea bags
- 6 basil leaves
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) honey
- 3 tablespoons lime juice
- Place water in a glass or ceramic serving pitcher. Wrap the strings of tea bags around a chopstick and suspend over pitcher. You may have to dip the tea bags in the water a few times to “activate”. Allow to set at room temperature for 15 minutes. Remove and discard tea bags. Chill tea before serving.
- To make Basil Lime Honey, place basil in a glass and top with sugar. Muddle together to release basil fragrance. Stir in honey and lime juice. Sweeten tea by adding Basil Lime Honey to taste.
