Marisa Baggett Memoirs

Rarely a day passes when I am not faced with questions: How did you choose to become a sushi chef? How did you learn to make sushi? What is it like to be an African American female sushi chef? When asked politely, I am happy to answer. I made the decision to pursue a career in sushi with full understanding that these questions would become commonplace.

The challenge has always been deciding where to begin and just how much should be told. My adventures in sushi have been quite eventful at every stage. The “radio” version of my story is nice and sweet. It includes just enough information to convey my love of my work and how I got to where I am today. But there is always more to every story…

Buddha’s Bones is the collective title of the rest of my story. The stories, which will surface on my website regularly, are true.
