Thanksgiving Sushi: Turkey and Gravy Maki?

turkeyngravysushi.jpg

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I’ve been thinking of holiday inspired ingredients such as green beans in butter sauce and butternut squash as components for sushi rolls. Apparently, I’m not the only one thinking of Thanksgiving inspired sushi.  Thrill list discovered this restaurant serving up sushi with a Thanksgiving twist. Takami sushi bar is featuring a sushi roll with roasted turkey, avocado, cucumber, chives and dill wrapped in soy paper served with gravy! The roll is also accompanied with grilled veggies, a shot of pumpkin soup, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes.

I’m not sure I’d be up for trying this roll. Though the combination is festive and creative, I’m not sure that my palate would agree with cucumbers and gravy. Perhaps without the cucumbers, I’d give it a try.

Would you try this sushi combo?

I’d try it! This doesn’t look as though it will become a classic, but might be good. Think of a turkey sandwich the day after Thanksgiving. It’s the gravy that sounds odd: cold gravy is unappealing, but if it were hot it doesn’t seem to be suitable for sushi. I’d go for mayo with a bit of mustard flavor.
